Quite unknown to many Americans is the existence of the paradise-like nation of the Dominican Republic. Depending on how you view it, this relative anonymity of the nation can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. Sure, it will be harder to make your research about this nation, but you are bound to see less tourists in the beaches and other destinations at a very affordable price.
Other good things that you may want to consider is the country's relatively large size. Dominican Republic is a large Caribbean nation with close to ten million people. Because of this, you won't have the same island problem with other Caribbean nations wherein you drive a long way from one end of the island, just to arrive at another island. A larger size means more exotic destinations for the ordinary traveler.
The year-long golf courses are among the favorites in this nation, though in recent years much efforts have been concentrated on eco-tourism programs, with destinations like Jaraboca, Constanza, and Pico Duarte getting more and more significants because of eco-tourism efforts.
And if you are a male who's interested in beautiful women, there are a lot of them in the Dominican Republic, too. If their consistent high scores in global beauty pageants isn't a proof, then I do not know what is. The beauty and demeanor of the women here have consistently caught the attention of most of the foreigners that set their feet here. You just might be one of them.
If you're not interested in the women, then don't worry, there are still many more things you can enjoy here in the Dominican Repblic--the beaches, the extreme destinations, the ecosystem, and a myriad of other interesting destinations that might perk your interest. This is not just your ordinary tropical destination. We'll take a look at each and everyone of them in the coming weeks.
