Once in a while, seeing forms of art different from what we are accustomed is a nice thing to have once in a while. They tend to expose us to alternative thinking and alternative views on life, as reflected on the different artworks presented.Artisans in the Dominican Republic have been presented with this opportunity with the Alternative Handicraft Fair set for the Plazoleta Fray Bartolome de las Casas in the Colonial City. Among the artists to be represented in the fair are Kilia Llano, Norberto Aquino, Enrique Royo, Bernardita Garcia and Daysi David. They will be presenting their alternative artworks their. Meanwhile, original work by Vianna Pacheco, Manuel Ochoa, Popi Victorino, Pedro Javier Mendoza and Boutique Artesanal Duendes del Caribe.
The fair will be open from 10 AM to 9 PM from November 27 to 29. Do try to participate in this event as the proceeds of the sale during the exhibition will be donated to Fundacion Hogar de Ninas Madelae, a girls'orphanage located in the same country.
And while you are at it, you might also want to attend the Second Alternative Art & Crafts Show, which will be also held in the same venue and during the same dates.
These kinds of exhibitions only come once in a while. It is not usual that you can get to purchase these unusual artwork for not so much. Come to think of it, they could also make good gifts for your loved ones this coming Christmas.
